Hertha Berlin secured a 1-0 victory over Hoffenheim on Friday to reignite their Bundesliga title hopes and move up to second place, just two points behind VfL Wolfsburg with five matches left. The goal came in the 45th minute when Patrick Ebert scored after Marko Pantelic found him on the right side of the field. Despite Hoffenheim's dominance since January, Hertha held strong.
In the 77th minute, Boubacar Sanogo hit the crossbar for Hoffenheim but Hertha remained solid against the Berlin defense, with Josip Simunic performing particularly well. Third-placed Bayern Munich, a further point behind, hosts Schalke 04 on Saturday while Hamburg, also with 54 points, travels to Dortmund. VfL Wolfsburg faces Energie Cottbus at the bottom of the table on Sunday.
