Hertha BSC have secured their third consecutive victory. In a 2-1 (1-1) win at SC Dynamo Dresden on matchday six of the 2. Bundesliga, Jón Dagur Þórsteinsson was the match-winner with a brace.
The Course of the Match
The visitors from the capital had an unfortunate start to the match. As early as the tenth minute, Patrice Čović put the Saxons ahead following an assist from Vincent Vermeij. Hertha quickly fought their way back into the game and equalised in the 29th minute. Josip Brekalo laid the ball off to the unmarked Þórsteinsson, who headed home from close range. The score remained level until halftime, although both teams played with some intensity, resulting in four yellow cards.
After the break, Berlin increasingly took control and created the better chances. The reward came ten minutes from time. Mads Valentin Pedersen delivered a cross from the left into the box, where Þórsteinsson was on hand again to head home the decisive 2-1. The statistics clearly underlined the visitors' superiority in the second half. Hertha BSC managed 26 shots, nine of which were on target, while Dresden only mustered seven attempts with two on goal.
Outlook on the Next Challenges
With this success, Hertha continues its good run of form. In the last five competitive matches, they have recorded three wins, one draw and only one defeat. The team under coach S. Leitl is now in an upward spiral. Josip Brekalo, who delivered the assist for the equaliser in another strong performance, is currently the team's top scorer with four goals in five appearances. The next task awaits on September 29th with the away match at Hertha Zehlendorf.
