Hertha Berlin loses another key player. Striker Marten Winkler, 23, moves immediately to Belgian champions RSC Anderlecht. The deal runs until 2030 and includes international appearances. Winkler recently contributed two assists and a goal in a 4:1 win over Heidenheim.
Winkler, a product of Hertha’s academy, had one year left on his Berlin contract. Sport director Benjamin Weber confirmed the move despite Winkler’s strong season start. "Marten wanted the new challenge in Belgium," Weber said. The transfer brings Hertha financial relief.
Winkler’s departure is another blow to the attack. After a 4:1 win over Heidenheim, coach Pal Dardai must now reshuffle. With only four goals in three games, Hertha needs new solutions.
Hertha is looking for reinforcements. Rumors link the club to Georgian striker Georges Mikautadze. The 25-year-old, currently at Villarreal, could be an option.
Winkler will prepare for international tasks at Anderlecht. His debut is pending, but expectations are high. Hertha remains active in the transfer market.
